How to concentrate while studying

A common problem that a lot of people have is that they cannot concentrate, because they get distracted very easily. This happens more and more nowadays and it is a big problem, especially if you are a student who tries to concentrate while studying. Whether you are in a situation that you have a deadline that is coming up or you have to cover the necessary material for your exams, then this article is definitely for you!

Below I recommend you a few ways to help you stay concentrated while studying:

Bring All Your Stuff on the Desk

It is really important to have everything you might need in front of you before you start studying. That is the reason why you should make sure that you have on your desk all the necessary books of the lecture, your notebooks or any files with important handouts that you might have. Also, you must make sure that you have pens, highlighters and sticky notes that will help you during your studying. Except all these, it is good to have glass of water or anything else that you would like to drink near you in case you might be thirsty and some food like quick snacks to eat when you feel hungry. In doing so, you won’t lose time searching for drink or food while studying.

Avoid Using the Internet or Use It Wisely

I have read a lot of articles that suggest to close off WiFi while studying, but this is not always achievable. Sometimes you need the internet to find out information about your research on a project that you are working on. In this case, that you need the internet for studying, just open all the relevant tabs from your web browser that you want for your research. Avoid having extra tabs like opened tabs logged in your social media accounts or anything else that can divert your attention on them and distract you from your studying.

Listen To Music If It Helps You

Personally, I love to listen to my favorite music while studying and it helps me to concentrate and study with more positive energy. If you are just like me then I suggest you to choose a playlist that you like from YouTube with the music you prefer and let it play. In this way you can gain some time that could be otherwise wasted on searching for the next song and putting it up on the platform. However, there are a lot of people who cannot concentrate in studying if they listen to music and they prefer to be in a silent environment. If you are one of those people, then a great idea will be to go to the library of your university and study there.

Put Your Phone Away or Put It on Silent Mode

Mobile phones are the most common thing that causes distraction to young people. It is suggestible to put your phone away from the area that you are studying. You can either put your phone in a different room in the house or in the same room, but in silent mode and in a place where you won’t look at it. In this way you will avoid the temptation of constantly checking your phone to see if you have any new notifications, missed calls, messages and so on, therefore you won’t be interrupted from your studying. You will be able to check your phone to see if you received any messages during the time that you were studying in your break time when you will be having the time to answer them.

Take Short Breaks Regularly

It is proven that when you take breaks frequently it helps you in your studying process, because it refreshes your mind and it makes you more productive. After studying for about 45 minutes have a 20 minute break to relax. If you want, you can set on a timer as in for to know exactly when to take a break from studying and when to come back and continue. At the time of your break I recommend you to do something which make you feel at ease and enjoy your time. For instance, you can have a quick look on your social media, scroll a little bit on Instagram or talk with a friend of yours.

If you take into consideration the above, you will see by yourself that you will be more concentrate when you study and therefore you will be studying more effectively.
