Hashtags are frequently used to add meaning to posts on social media sites and are symbolized by the # symbol. They are used in order to categorize content and if they used correctly they increase the chances for Instagram users to be found and even followed by other people who search for those hashtags.
You can add hashtags in the caption or comments of your post. If you add hashtags to a post that's set to public, the post will be visible on the corresponding hashtag page. However, when people with private profiles on Instagram tag posts, they won't appear publicly on hashtag pages.
Steps to do in order to tag a photo or video with a hashtag:
Take or upload a photo or video and choose to add a filter to it, then tap Next
Type a relevant hashtag followed by text or emoji where it says Write a caption… and then tap Share
If you’ve already uploaded a post and you want to add a hashtag to it then go and edit the caption of it or include your hashtag in a comment on your photo
Some additional information about #
You can use up to 30 tags on a single photo or video otherwise your comment won’t post.
Numbers are allowed in hashtags, but spaces and special characters are not. For instance, the following hashtags #$ or #%, won't work.
